Project 2: Part 9 – User Test Round 1

A more detailed description for each persons test is on the Drive but below are the main findings from Round 1

Derek: Iteration 1 (A)

Task 1: Book a trip:
1. Dates – once he had picked dates he didn’t get confirmation so didn’t know what to do next i.e. does he go back or forward, he presses the back button which was wrong
2. He thought adding dates was confusing because he didn’t get confirmation that it was picked

Task 3: Locating Times:
1. Didn’t like the arrow and circle icon to reverse the option, thought it was confusing, that it implied the direction of the journey.

Main finding:
Liked: looks nice but needs more colour, is clear, quick especially for a member
Disliked: (only mentioned 2) got lost in flow especially entering the Date section as got no confirmation, to change/edit things would have to start all over again

Derek: Iteration 1 (B)

Task 1: Book a trip:
Got confused by menu at top
Likes that each step is highlight/confirmed – knows what is needed next of him
Likes that it could be corrected easily on one page

Liked: Ease to use, layout easy to understand and clear, likes that he can see his actions
Disliked: (only mentioned 2) cluttered, too specific to iPhone (time reel) Android user may be confused, doesn’t need conformation if he can see it on the screen anyway

Likes that it could be corrected easily on one page, he could easily see what was required next.

Donal: Iteration 1 (A)

Task 1: Book a trip:
1. more feedback required when selecting dates, the progression to the next screen (i.e from outbound to return) was not clear, this was the same when it came to selecting the dates.
2. noted that he would perhaps like the price structure to be more obvious – wasn’t exactly sure when adding passenger amount how much he was paying

Task 3: Locating Times:
1. Clarity of the timetable route page a little confusing

Liked: Easy to follow, liked having the option of receiving his ticket directly to his mobile, found timetables easy to access
Disliked: (only mentioned 2) Found overall flow quite long, queried what the scenario would be should if he wish to change his date or add additional passengers when he was mid-way through the process – this highlights a big design flaw.

Donal: Iteration 1 (B)

Task 1: Book a trip:
1. Got confused by menu at top
2. Found the interface clustered
3. Didn’t like times reel
4. however like that you could operate from one screen before progressing

Liked: Liked that it was operated from one screen and that he was not stuck within a series of screens like iteration A.
Disliked: Cluttered, didn’t get how the passenger and times transitions. The flow wasn’t clear.

Thought the screen look cluttered

Main Findings for next prototype Iteration:
Version B was not to be continues with, however the Flow from B was to be incorporated into version A. This would mean that a new booking process would be developed and done on one screen.
